What's even more frustrating is just how preventable this probably was. If SFPD had even put a tiny bit of effort into traffic enforcement recently, then maybe our streets would be safer. Traffic citations in April 2022 were down 97% compared to April 2014, and we all know the streets aren't 97% safer.

Ok, my Mastodon instance survived an upgrade and reboot. Only casualty seems to be that @newsbot decided it must regurgitate all sorts of old tweets.

I'll call it a win, next time disable newsbot before upgrades. Got it.

The next album that I’ll be releasing is my version of Red, which will be out on November 19. This will be the first time you hear all 30 songs that were meant to go on Red. And hey, one of them is even ten minutes long🧣 taylor.lnk.to/RedTaylorsVersio

@fortytwoeggs re: Bloody Well Right, what a classy song intro. I wanted to reply with a Supertramp intro that would be disappointing to stuck in your head, but turns out Supertramp doesn't have a bad intro

andrew lee just seized over 700 channels on freenode because they mentioned libera.chat in their topic.

This includes projects like openbsd, wikimedia, FOSDEM, etc.

archive.is/uHw1g shows 720 channels that match what is being checked.

here's an example log: gist.github.com/pushcx/ab2a1d5

boost this if you care about foss in any way.

Neat tip for subscribing to kernel mailing lists without actually subscribing your email address and getting flooded with kernel patches. brennan.io/2021/05/05/kernel-m

I would really enjoy a webcomic detailing the crazy hijinks that this mailbox gets up to thanks to being unmonitored. It would be like Home Alone except the kid is a mailbox.

Hello @snake.club users (can I just @ the whole server??).
If you want anything added to @newsbot LMK, it can mirror tweets and RSS feeds.

Friday at midnight, I wrote some code to capture subprocess output in a pipe. It didn't work, no matter how I tweaked things. This morning after a full night's rest I looked at my code and saw I had written:

pid_t pid = fork();
pipe(pipefds);

What a stupidhead I am. 😅
